Open the Appwrite console on its HTTPS address, create the admin account, then your first project and its platforms.
All of Appwrite, on your server
Appwrite brings the building blocks of a backend, authentication, databases, storage, functions and messaging, behind a console and SDKs. Deployed with One Click Apps, you build your applications while the platform handles HTTPS, updates and backups.
Authentication
Email and password, SMS, OAuth, anonymous sessions and magic links, with session management, multi-factor authentication and account verification.
Databases
Structured data with queries, pagination, indexes and relationships to model your applications' data.
File storage
File uploads and downloads, with encryption, compression and transformations for your images and media.
Functions
Your backend logic in isolated runtimes, triggered by events or on a schedule. Node.js, PHP, Python and Ruby are enabled by default.
Messaging
Emails, SMS and push notifications sent to your users, through the providers you configure.
Realtime
Your applications subscribe to database, storage or authentication events and receive every change live.
Permissions
Read and write rights per user, team or role, enforced by the API on every resource.
Client and server SDKs
Web, Flutter, Apple, Android and React Native on the client; Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby, Dart, Go, .NET and more on the server.
Appwrite console
A web interface to manage projects, users, data, files, functions and API keys, without writing code.
Managed from the console with One Click Apps
Automatic HTTPS
An HTTPS address from the moment it is deployed, or your own domain with its Let's Encrypt certificate.
Logs and variables
Read the logs of each Appwrite service and edit its environment variables without opening a terminal.
Updates
The console detects new Appwrite images, and you run the update when you decide to.
Daily backups
Appwrite volumes, MariaDB database, uploaded files and functions, backed up every day and kept for 7 days.

Appwrite FAQ
What to know before you order, and right after.
What is Appwrite?
Appwrite is an open source development platform that provides the backend of your web and mobile applications: authentication, databases, file storage, functions, messaging and realtime, managed from a web console and SDKs for every platform.
Is Appwrite open source and free?
Yes. Appwrite is released under the BSD 3-Clause licence: you can use it for free, including commercially, modify it and redistribute it as long as you keep the licence notices. The publisher also offers its own cloud service, independent of this deployment. The prices on this page are those of the VPS.
What minimum configuration do I need?
The Appwrite documentation asks for at least 2 CPU cores, 4 GB of RAM and 2 GB of swap. The plans on this page therefore have at least 2 vCPUs, 4 GB of RAM and 30 GB of disk, with 1 GB of memory reserved for the system and the One Click Apps platform. You keep root access to add a swap file, and an 8 GB plan leaves more headroom for functions and workers.
How do I access Appwrite after ordering?
Once the VPS is created, the One Click Apps platform installs and then deploys Appwrite, and its HTTPS address is shown in the application's Overview tab. Open the Appwrite console under /console and create your account straight away: the deployment only opens the console sign-up form to the first account, and you then invite other members to your projects.
Do Appwrite emails work straight away?
Not without configuration. Verification, password recovery, magic link and invitation emails go through an SMTP server that you set in the _APP_SMTP_* environment variables, from the Variables tab of the console. For SMS and push notifications, add your providers in the Appwrite console.
Can I use my own domain name?
Yes. Add it in the application's Domains tab. If the DNS zone is managed at OnetSolutions, the A record is created for you; otherwise, the console shows the IP address to point it to. The HTTPS certificate is issued automatically.
Is my data backed up?
Appwrite volumes, MariaDB database, uploaded files, functions and configuration, are backed up every day at 03:00 and kept for 7 days, on the VPS disk: they protect you from a mistake in the application, not from losing the server. For that, add the VPS backup option (from €1.99 excl. VAT/month) or take a snapshot.
How is Appwrite updated?
Every night, the platform checks whether a new Appwrite image or a new definition of the application has been published. If so, an Update available banner appears in the console and you run the update when you decide to; data volumes are kept. Take a snapshot before a major version change.
Who looks after Appwrite once it is installed?
Our support covers the VPS: the server, its network, its storage and its availability. Appwrite, its configuration, your data and its updates remain your responsibility: the console gives you the tools to manage them, and you keep root access to the server.
