Elasticsearch VPSElastic's search and analytics engine, on your own server

Elasticsearch is a distributed search and analytics engine published by a third party, Elastic. You send it JSON documents, it indexes them and answers full-text searches, aggregations, ES|QL queries and vector searches through a REST API. On your VPS, it runs as a single node.

Elasticsearch's source code is released under a choice of three licences: GNU AGPL v3, an open source licence, Server Side Public License v1 and Elastic License 2.0, except for the x-pack folder, under Elastic License 2.0 only. The deployed distribution includes Elastic's Basic tier for free: search, aggregations, ES|QL, vector search, security, snapshots. Machine learning, ELSER, the inference API or RRF fusion require a paid subscription from Elastic. The prices shown on this page are for the VPS.

We only offer Elasticsearch on plans with at least 2 vCPU, 4 GB of RAM and 30 GB of disk. One Click Apps requires 2 GB and reserves 1 GB for the system and the platform; Elastic, in its Docker installation guide, recommends allocating at least 4 GB of memory. The deployment caps the Java heap at 512 MB: on a larger plan, raise it with the ES_JAVA_OPTS variable, without going above half of the RAM as Elastic recommends, the rest serving the filesystem cache.

Once the VPS is created, the One Click Apps platform installs and then deploys Elasticsearch. Its HTTPS address and the password of the elastic user, generated at deployment, are shown in the console, in the app's Overview tab. Use this account to create API keys with limited rights, and never embed it in an application.

Not in the app ordered from this page, which deploys Elasticsearch on its own. Kibana also uses memory: check the remaining budget shown on the platform page before deploying it alongside another app.

The platform copies the data volume every day at 3 am and keeps 7 days of copies, on the VPS disk. But Elastic is clear: a snapshot is the only reliable and supported backup method, and a copy of the data directory may turn out to be unusable. So set up snapshots with the snapshot/restore API and snapshot lifecycle management, to a repository off the server, and add the VPS backup option if needed (from €1.99 excl. VAT/month).

Elasticsearch protects the node: above 85% disk usage it stops allocating new shards to it, and at 95% it blocks writes to the indices. Keep an eye on disk space, delete old indices with an ILM policy, or move to a larger plan.

Every night, the platform checks whether a new version has been published and the console lets you know. Nothing is updated without your action: you start the update from the console, and the data is kept. Before a major version change, take a snapshot and follow Elastic's upgrade guide.

Yes. Add it in the app's Domains tab. If the DNS zone is managed at OnetSolutions, the A record is created for you; otherwise, the console shows the IP address to point it to. The HTTPS certificate is issued automatically.

Our support covers the VPS: the server, its network, its storage and its availability. Elasticsearch, its configuration, your indices, your snapshots and their updates remain your responsibility: the console gives you the tools to manage them, and you keep root access to the server.
