What to know before you order, and right after.
What is Memos?
Memos is an open source, self-hosted note-taking application developed by the usememos project. You write short notes in Markdown, with tags, task lists and attachments, and you choose who can read each one.
What is Memos' licence?
Memos is published under the MIT licence. It is free, including for commercial use, and its source code is public. The prices shown on this page are those of the VPS: Memos costs nothing extra.
How do I access Memos after ordering?
Once the VPS is created, the One Click Apps platform installs and then deploys Memos. Its HTTPS address is shown in the console, in the application's Overview tab. Open it without waiting and create your account: the first account created becomes the instance's admin.
Can I stop other people from signing up?
Yes. In the instance settings, the admin can disable new user registration and forbid public notes; the Memos documentation recommends doing so for a private instance.
Can I use my own domain name?
Yes. Add it in the application's Domains tab, for example notes.your-domain.com. If the DNS zone is managed at OnetSolutions, the A record is created for you; otherwise, the console shows the IP address to point it to. The HTTPS certificate is issued automatically.
What minimum configuration do I need?
One Click Apps needs at least 2 vCPUs, 2 GB of RAM and 30 GB of disk, with 1 GB of memory reserved for the system and the platform. Every plan on this page meets that minimum. Memos runs in a single container with a SQLite database: it leaves room for other applications on the same server.
Are my notes backed up?
The Memos data volume, which holds its SQLite database, is backed up every day at 03:00 and kept for 7 days, on the VPS disk: it protects you from a mistake in the application, not from losing the server. For that, add the VPS backup option (from €1.99 excl. VAT/month) or take a snapshot.
How is Memos updated?
Memos is deployed from its stable image. Every night, the platform checks whether a new version has been published; the console then shows an update banner, and nothing is applied without your action. Data is kept during the update.
Does Memos include AI?
Memos exposes an MCP endpoint that lets an AI assistant search, create and update your notes, with the rights of the account behind the token. No AI model comes with the VPS: the assistant is the one you connect.
Who looks after Memos once it is installed?
Our support covers the VPS: the server, its network, its storage and its availability. Memos is maintained by the usememos open source project; its configuration, your data and its updates remain your responsibility. The console gives you the tools to manage them, and you keep root access to the server.
