What is Open WebUI?
Open WebUI is a self-hosted AI web interface published by a third party. It connects to Ollama and to OpenAI-compatible APIs, and adds user management, chatting with your documents, web search and tools.
Is an AI model included?
No. Open WebUI is the interface: you connect it to an OpenAI-compatible API (Mistral AI, Anthropic, Groq, OpenRouter…) with your own key, or to an Ollama server you run. With root access you can install Ollama yourself: without a GPU, small models run on the processor, with performance limited by the VPS CPU and memory. On a High performance plan, the optional NVIDIA L4 GPU (24 GB, €0.70 excl. VAT per hour billed by the minute) speeds up inference; installing the NVIDIA driver and connecting it to Ollama is up to you.
Where are my conversations and documents stored?
On your VPS, in a datacenter in France: accounts, conversation history and uploaded files. The messages you send to a model are processed by the provider of the API you chose. To keep them on your own infrastructure, connect Open WebUI to a model server you host.
How do I access Open WebUI after ordering?
Once the VPS is created, Open WebUI is deployed automatically. Open the application in the One Click Apps section of the console and follow its HTTPS address. Create your account right away: the first account created becomes the administrator. Then add your domain in the Domains tab: the HTTPS certificate is issued automatically.
Can my whole team use it?
Yes. The administrator turns on new sign-ups: new accounts stay pending until approved. Roles, groups and permissions then set who can access which models and knowledge.
What minimum configuration do I need?
One Click Apps need at least 2 vCPU, 2 GB of RAM and 30 GB of disk, with 1 GB of RAM reserved for the system and the platform. Every plan on this page meets them, and you can move to a larger size from the console.
Is my data backed up?
Open WebUI data is backed up every day at 3 a.m., with 7 days of retention, on the VPS disk: it protects you from a mistake in the application, not from losing the server. For that, add the VPS backup option (from €1.99 excl. VAT/month) or take a snapshot.
How do updates work?
Every night, the console checks whether a new Open WebUI version has been published and shows it on the application page. Nothing is updated without your action: one click on "Update" is enough, and your data is kept.
Is Open WebUI paid?
Open WebUI is free and published by its maintainers under the Open WebUI License: BSD-3-Clause up to version 0.6.5, then a clause requiring the "Open WebUI" branding to be kept beyond 50 users over 30 days, with exceptions. The prices on this page are those of the VPS; model API usage is billed by its provider.
