OpenClaw, the assistant that acts for you
OpenClaw is an open-source AI assistant that does more than answer: it runs tasks, remembers your preferences and reaches you where you already chat.
In your messaging apps
Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack, Signal, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat and 20+ more channels: you message it like a contact.
Persistent memory
OpenClaw remembers your preferences and context from one conversation to the next, on your server.
Scheduled automations
Its built-in scheduler wakes the assistant at the right time and delivers the output to a chat channel or a webhook.
External triggers
Inbound webhooks and Gmail triggers through Google Pub/Sub start the assistant when an event comes in.
Browser and files
It browses web pages, fills in forms, reads and writes files and runs commands, within the limits you set.
Skills and plugins
Add skills: Google Workspace, IMAP email, Notion, GitHub, Trello, RSS feeds… Some need an extra tool or key.
The model of your choice
Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Mistral, xAI, OpenRouter, or an Ollama, vLLM or LM Studio server you run.
Web control interface
Chat, sessions, agents, automations, plugins and settings in a web interface served by the OpenClaw gateway.
Multiple agents
Set up several agents, each with its own tools and permissions, and follow their activity from the interface.
An assistant that acts on your behalf needs protecting
OpenClaw can send messages and take actions with your access: its security settings matter as much as its features.
Who can talk to it
By default, a stranger who messages it privately gets a pairing code you must approve. You can also allow only a list of contacts.
What it can do
Per-agent tool limits, read-only mode and sandboxing are configurable. The documentation advises treating every inbound message as untrusted.
Your access and your keys
The access credentials generated at deployment are shown in the console, hidden by default. Give each API key the fewest rights possible and check your setup with openclaw security audit.
OpenClaw is released under the MIT licence by the OpenClaw Foundation, with no paid edition. No AI model is included and OpenClaw needs no GPU: model API usage is billed by its provider.
What you can hand over to OpenClaw
An assistant that runs around the clock on your server and replies wherever you are.

Every day at the time you choose, a summary of your email and calendar sent to your messaging app.

OpenClaw FAQ
What to know before you order, and right after.
What is OpenClaw?
OpenClaw is an open-source personal AI assistant, created by Peter Steinberger and stewarded by the OpenClaw Foundation. It connects to your messaging apps, keeps a memory of your exchanges, runs tasks with tools and skills, and launches scheduled automations. On a VPS, it stays online even when your computer is off.
Is an AI model included?
No. OpenClaw needs a model provider that you configure with your own key: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Mistral, xAI, OpenRouter and others, or an Ollama, vLLM or LM Studio server you run. API usage is billed by its provider.
How do I secure an assistant that acts on my behalf?
Keep the access credentials to yourself, limit who can message it (pairing of unknown senders is on by default, and a contact allowlist is available), restrict each agent's tools and only give it API keys with limited rights. The OpenClaw documentation recommends treating every inbound message as untrusted and provides the openclaw security audit command to check your setup.
How do I access OpenClaw after ordering?
Once the VPS is created, OpenClaw is deployed automatically. Open the app in the One Click Apps section of the console: you will find its HTTPS address and, in the Overview tab, the credentials generated at deployment. Then add your domain in the Domains tab: the HTTPS certificate is issued automatically.
Which messaging apps can I connect?
OpenClaw supports Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack, Signal, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat and 20+ more channels. Each channel is set up with its own credentials, for example a Telegram bot token.
What is the minimum configuration?
One Click Apps require at least 2 vCPU, 2 GB of RAM and 30 GB of disk, with 1 GB of RAM reserved for the system and the platform. Every plan on this page meets them. If the assistant browses the web a lot, leave some memory headroom: you can move to a larger size from the console.
Is my data backed up?
OpenClaw's data is backed up every day at 3 a.m., with 7-day retention, on the VPS disk: this protects you from a mistake in the app, not from losing the server. For that, add the VPS backup option (from €1.99 excl. VAT/month) or take a snapshot.
How do updates work?
Every night, the console checks whether a new OpenClaw version has been released and shows it on the app page. Nothing is updated without your action: one click on "Update" is enough, and your data is kept.
Who maintains OpenClaw, and what does your support cover?
OpenClaw is developed by the OpenClaw Foundation and its community. Our support covers your VPS: server, network, storage and availability. Configuring the assistant, its channels and its models is part of running it yourself, with the official OpenClaw documentation.
Is OpenClaw paid?
No. OpenClaw is open source, released under the MIT licence, with no subscription or paid edition. The prices on this page are for the VPS; model API usage is billed by its provider.
