Why Portainer on an OnetSolutions VPS
Recent hardware, a fast network and protected data, under every one of your containers.
AMD EPYC processors and NVMe storage
Up to 1 Gbps
OnetSolutions API
Backups and snapshots
Online in three steps
Nothing to install: you order, Portainer is deployed on your server and published over HTTPS.
- 01
Choose your VPS
Select a plan with at least 2 vCPUs, 2 GB of RAM and 30 GB of disk: Portainer is already selected in the order.
- 02
Portainer deploys
The One Click Apps platform installs on your VPS, then deploys Portainer Community Edition, connected to the server's Docker engine, without typing a single command.
- 03
Create your administrator
Open Portainer on its HTTPS address as soon as the deployment finishes and create the first user, the administrator, with a password of at least 12 characters.
All of Portainer, on your server
Portainer Community Edition, deployed with One Click Apps: you manage your containers from the browser, the platform takes care of HTTPS, updates and backups for Portainer.
Containers
Create, start, stop, restart, duplicate or remove a container, and view its details, logs and statistics: CPU, memory, network, disk and processes.
Docker Compose stacks
Deploy a stack from the web editor, an uploaded file or a template, with its environment variables entered one by one or loaded from a .env file.
Deploy from Git
Point Portainer to the Compose file of a Git repository and turn on GitOps updates: Portainer polls the repository and redeploys the stack when it changes.
App templates
A library of ready-to-deploy templates, single containers or stacks, plus your own templates, written by hand or created from an existing stack.
Console in the browser
Open a terminal inside a container by choosing the command and the user, without going through SSH.
Images and volumes
Pull an image, build it from a Dockerfile, import it, export it or prune the ones you no longer use; create and remove your volumes.
Networks and registries
Create the Docker networks of your applications and register your image registries, Docker Hub or private, to deploy from them.
Users and teams
An account for each person, administrators and teams, and per-resource access control: administrators only, all users or specific teams.
Several environments
Portainer manages Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes and Podman: add other servers to the same interface with the Portainer agent.
Managed from the console with One Click Apps
Automatic HTTPS
An HTTPS address from the moment it is deployed, or your own domain with its Let's Encrypt certificate.
Logs and variables
Read Portainer's logs and edit its environment variables without opening a terminal.
Updates
The console detects newly published versions, and you start the update when you decide to.
Daily backups
Portainer's data volume, including users, settings and saved stacks, backed up every day and kept for 7 days.
- Portainer is published by a third party, Portainer.io. Its Community Edition is free and open source, released under the zlib licence. Portainer.io also sells a paid Business Edition, which includes for instance container and stack webhooks and roles; we do not sell Business licences.
- Portainer drives your VPS's Docker engine, the same one that runs the One Click Apps platform and your other applications: it sees them and can stop them. Do not modify the platform's containers. Containers you start from Portainer are not managed by the console: no automatic HTTPS, no daily backup.

Portainer FAQ
What to know before you order, and right after.
What is Portainer?
Portainer is a web administration interface for Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes and Podman, published by Portainer.io. From your browser, you manage your containers, Docker Compose stacks, images, volumes and networks, without the command line.
Is Portainer free and open source?
Yes for the Community Edition, the one we deploy: it is free and released under the zlib licence. Portainer.io also sells a Business Edition, which adds for instance container and stack webhooks and roles. We do not sell Business licences: the prices on this page are for the VPS.
How do I access Portainer after ordering?
Once the VPS is created, the One Click Apps platform installs and then deploys Portainer. The HTTPS address shows up in the console, in the application's Overview tab. Open it right away: until an administrator exists, the first visitor is the one who creates it. Choose a password of at least 12 characters.
Does Portainer see my other applications?
Yes. Portainer is connected to the VPS's Docker engine, the one that runs the One Click Apps platform and all your applications: it lists them and can stop or remove them. Manage your One Click Apps applications from the console and do not modify the platform's containers from Portainer.
Are containers started from Portainer managed by the console?
No. The console manages Portainer itself, not the containers you create with it: they get no automatic HTTPS, no managed domain and no daily backup. To publish a port, check that it is allowed in the VPS's Firewall tab.
Can I use my own domain name?
Yes, for Portainer. Add it in the application's Domains tab. If the DNS zone is hosted at OnetSolutions, the A record is created for you; otherwise, the console shows the IP address to point it to. The HTTPS certificate is issued automatically.
What is the minimum configuration?
One Click Apps needs at least 2 vCPUs, 2 GB of RAM and 30 GB of disk, with 1 GB of memory reserved for the system and the platform. Every plan on this page meets that minimum; size your VPS mainly for the containers you plan to run.
Is my data backed up?
Portainer's data volume is backed up every day at 3 am and kept for 7 days, on the VPS's own disk. The volumes of containers you create from Portainer are not part of the application and are not covered. To protect the whole server, including against its loss, add the VPS backup option (from €1.99 excl. VAT/month) or take a snapshot.
How do updates work?
Every night, the platform compares what runs on your VPS with what has been published. When a new Portainer version is available, a banner shows it in the console and you start the update when you decide to; the data volume is kept. The images of your own containers are updated from Portainer.
Who looks after Portainer once it is installed?
Our support covers the VPS: the server, its network, its storage and its availability. Portainer, its configuration, your containers and their updates remain your responsibility: the console gives you the tools to manage them, and you keep root access to the server.
