Why Superset on an OnetSolutions VPS
Recent hardware, a fast network and protected data, under every one of your dashboards.
AMD EPYC processors and NVMe storage
Up to 1 Gbps
OnetSolutions API
Backups and snapshots
Online in three steps
You order, Superset is deployed on your server and published over HTTPS; one command then initialises it.
- 01
Pick your VPS
Select a plan with at least 2 vCPUs, 8 GB of RAM and 30 GB of disk: Superset is already ticked in the order.
- 02
Superset deploys itself
The One Click Apps platform installs on your VPS, then deploys Superset with its PostgreSQL metadata database and its Redis cache.
- 03
Initialise, then explore
Over SSH, run superset-init once in the Superset container to create the admin account and the tables, then connect your databases.
Apache Superset, on your server
The Apache Software Foundation's data exploration and visualisation platform, deployed with One Click Apps: you build your dashboards, the platform handles HTTPS, updates and backups.
No-code charts
Pick a dataset, a visualisation and your metrics: from a simple bar chart to geospatial maps, without writing a query.
SQL Lab
An SQL editor in the browser to query your databases, and export the results as CSV or Excel.
Lightweight semantic layer
Define metrics and calculated columns on your datasets, reusable across all your charts.
Nearly any SQL database
Superset connects to SQLAlchemy-compatible databases. The deployed image ships drivers for PostgreSQL, MySQL, ClickHouse, Trino and Druid, among others.
Dashboards
Lay out your charts on a grid, publish the dashboard and share it with your team.
Native filters
A filter bar on the dashboard applies a period, a region or a product to every chart it concerns.
Redis cache
Superset is deployed with Redis as its cache, so your queries are not rerun on every view.
Roles and permissions
Built-in roles, Admin, Alpha, Gamma or sql_lab, to decide who explores, who edits and who writes SQL.
REST API
A REST API described in OpenAPI to automate the creation of charts, dashboards or datasets.
Good to know before you order
- The deployment uses the community Docker image amancevice/superset, version 6.0.0: it is not published by the Apache Software Foundation.
- The admin account is not created automatically: run superset-init once in the Superset container, over SSH, to create it and initialise the database.
- Superset's scheduled alerts and reports need Celery workers, which are not part of this deployment.
- Maps on a Mapbox background need a Mapbox API key, set in the MAPBOX_API_KEY parameter when you deploy.
These points describe the application as the One Click Apps catalog deploys it today. Superset remains your responsibility: its initialisation, configuration and version upgrades happen on your server, where you keep root access.
Managed from the console with One Click Apps
Automatic HTTPS
An HTTPS address from the moment it is deployed, or your own domain with its Let's Encrypt certificate.
Logs and variables
Read the Superset, PostgreSQL and Redis logs, and edit environment variables without opening a terminal.
Updates
The console detects newly published images, and you run the update when you decide to.
Daily backups
Data volumes, including the PostgreSQL metadata database, backed up every day and kept for 7 days.
Apache Superset is a project of the Apache Software Foundation, released under the Apache 2.0 licence: you can use it for free, including commercially. The deployed Docker image is maintained by an independent contributor under the MIT licence, with no link to Apache. Apache Superset and Superset are trademarks of the Apache Software Foundation.
What you can analyse with Superset
One server, your databases and your teams: your metrics in dashboards you control, with no per-user licence.
Application databases
Dashboards on your applications' data, ideally on a read replica so production is not loaded.

Apache Superset FAQ
What to know before you order, and right after.
What is Apache Superset?
Apache Superset is a data exploration and visualisation platform, a project of the Apache Software Foundation. It connects to your SQL databases and lets you build charts without code, write queries in SQL Lab and assemble dashboards.
Is Superset free?
Yes. Apache Superset is released under the Apache 2.0 licence and is free to use, including commercially, with no per-user licence. The prices shown on this page are those of the VPS.
Which version of Superset is deployed?
The One Click Apps catalog deploys Superset 6.0.0 from the community Docker image amancevice/superset, maintained by an independent contributor with no link to the Apache Software Foundation. Superset comes with a PostgreSQL database that stores its metadata and a Redis instance used as its cache.
How do I access Superset after ordering?
Once the VPS is created, the One Click Apps platform installs and then deploys Superset, and its HTTPS address is shown in the application's Overview tab. Then connect to the server over SSH and run superset-init once in the Superset container: the command creates the admin account and initialises the database. You can then sign in.
What minimum configuration do I need?
We require at least 2 vCPUs, 8 GB of RAM and 30 GB of disk, above the 2 GB One Click Apps minimum. The Superset FAQ says community admins have reported 8 GB of RAM and 2 vCPUs as adequate for a moderately sized instance, and that needs depend on the number of users and their activity. 1 GB stays reserved for the system and the platform.
Can I use my own domain name?
Yes. Add it in the application's Domains tab. If the DNS zone is managed at OnetSolutions, the A record is created for you; otherwise, the console shows the IP address to point it to. The HTTPS certificate is issued automatically.
Are my dashboards backed up?
Data volumes, including the PostgreSQL database that holds your dashboards, charts and users, are backed up every day at 03:00 and kept for 7 days, on the VPS disk: they protect you from a mistake in the application, not from losing the server. For that, add the VPS backup option (from €2.99 excl. VAT/month) or take a snapshot. The databases Superset queries are not covered.
How do updates work?
Every night, the platform compares what runs on your VPS with the catalog and the published images. When an update exists, the console shows a banner and you run it when you decide to; volumes are kept. After a Superset version change, run superset db upgrade then superset init in the container, as the image documentation says, and take a backup first.
Who looks after Superset once it is installed?
Superset is developed by the Apache community, and the deployed image by an independent contributor. Our support covers the VPS: the server, its network, its storage and its availability. Superset, its initialisation, its configuration, your dashboards and their updates remain your responsibility: the console gives you the tools to manage them, and you keep root access to the server.
