Windmill is a developer platform published by Windmill Labs to build scripts, workflows and internal tools. You write code in Python, TypeScript, Go, Bash, SQL and many other languages; Windmill runs it on its workers, schedules it, chains it into flows and generates an interface for it.

Its source code is open source, under the AGPLv3 licence (Apache 2.0 for the clients and the OpenAPI specification). The Community Edition image we deploy also contains proprietary code: it is free for your own use, with unlimited executions, within the limits set in the software, but it cannot be resold or run as a managed service. The Enterprise Edition is sold by Windmill Labs, not by OnetSolutions; the prices on this page are for the VPS.

According to the table published on windmill.dev: unlimited executions, 3 workspaces, 50 users including 10 signing in with SSO, at most 4 groups and at most 30 days of execution history. Audit logs, SAML and SCIM, and Kafka, NATS or SQS triggers are part of the Enterprise Edition.

The deployment starts the Windmill server, three standard workers, a native worker, a language server for the editor and PostgreSQL. Windmill's documentation recommends one vCPU and 1 to 2 GB of RAM per worker; with the server, the database and the 1 GB reserved for the system and the platform, 4 vCPUs and 8 GB are the starting point. Plan for more for heavy workloads.

Once the VPS is created, the One Click Apps platform installs and then deploys Windmill. The HTTPS address shows up in the console, in the application's Overview tab. Sign in with the default account given in Windmill's documentation, then create your own administrator account right away: it replaces the default account, whose password is public.

No. No model is provided and Windmill needs no GPU. Windmill's AI agent steps and code assistant use your provider's API key, for instance OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral or Google, which you add as a resource.

Yes. Add it in the application's Domains tab. If the DNS zone is hosted at OnetSolutions, the A record is created for you; otherwise, the console shows the IP address to point it to. The HTTPS certificate is issued automatically.

All of Windmill's state lives in its PostgreSQL database: scripts, flows, resources and history. The application's data volumes, database included, are backed up every day at 3 am and kept for 7 days, on the VPS's own disk: they protect you from a mistake in the application, not from losing the server. For that, add the VPS backup option (from €2.99 excl. VAT/month) or take a snapshot.

Every night, the platform compares what runs on your VPS with what has been published. When a new version is available, a banner shows it in the console and you start the update when you decide to; the data volumes are kept. Take a backup before a major version change.

Our support covers the VPS: the server, its network, its storage and its availability. Windmill, its configuration, your scripts and their updates remain your responsibility: the console gives you the tools to manage them, and you keep root access to the server.
