Twenty FAQ
What to know before you order, and right after.
What is Twenty?
Twenty is a CRM published by Twenty.com, PBC. You manage contacts, companies and opportunities in table, kanban or calendar views, shape the data model around your business and automate your processes with workflows.
Is Twenty open source and free?
Mostly, yes: Twenty's code is released under the AGPLv3 and its core can be self-hosted for free. Some files, marked “Enterprise”, fall under a commercial licence and require a Twenty subscription to be used in production. Features such as SAML or OIDC SSO, record-level permissions, audit logs or using your own AI models when self-hosting belong to the paid Organization plan. The prices shown on this page are for the VPS.
Why 4 GB of RAM at minimum?
The Twenty documentation asks for at least 2 GB of RAM for its environment, which includes the application, its worker, PostgreSQL and Redis. One Click Apps reserves 1 GB for the system and the platform, so you need a VPS with more than 3 GB: hence plans from 4 GB, 2 vCPU and 30 GB of disk. Plan for more with a large team or several applications on the same server.
Where is my customer data stored?
In Twenty's PostgreSQL database, on your VPS, hosted in a datacenter in France. If you connect Gmail, Google Calendar or Microsoft 365, the synced emails and events come from those services and are copied into your database.
How do I reach Twenty after ordering?
Once the VPS is created, the One Click Apps platform installs, then deploys Twenty. Its HTTPS address shows in the console, in the application's Overview tab: open it, then create your account and your workspace.
Can Twenty send emails and sync my mailbox?
Yes, once configured. For invitation and password reset emails, set an SMTP server in the application's environment variables. To sync Gmail, Google Calendar or Microsoft 365, create an OAuth app with Google or Microsoft and add its credentials to the variables, as explained in the Twenty documentation.
Can I use my own domain name?
Yes. Add it in the application's Domains tab. If the DNS zone is managed at OnetSolutions, the A record is created for you; otherwise the console shows the IP address to point to. The HTTPS certificate is issued automatically.
Is my data backed up?
Twenty's data volumes are backed up every day at 3 a.m. and kept for 7 days, on the VPS disk: they protect you from a mistake in the application, not from losing the server. For that, add the VPS backup option (from €1.99 excl. VAT/month) or take a snapshot.
How are updates handled?
Every night, the platform checks whether a new version has been published. If so, an “Update available” banner appears on the application, and you start the update from the console whenever you decide. Volumes are kept; take a backup before a major version change.
Who looks after Twenty once it's installed?
Our support covers the VPS: the server, its network, its storage and its availability. Twenty, its configuration, your data and its updates remain your responsibility: the console gives you the tools to manage them, and you keep root access to the server.
